The shock club that could make a bid for Ozil

Unless Mesut Ozil commits his future to Arsenal very soon, then it’s likely that he’s entering his last few months at the club.

The Germany international has just over a year left on his contract, and after a disappointing season that started off so brightly, it’s likely he’ll be heading abroad.

Thanks to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexis Sanchez – and even more prominently, Arsene Wenger – Ozil has been able to go under the radar somewhat.

However, he’ll certainly be attracting headlines if the Telegraph’s latest claim is true.

The newspaper have it that the playmaker could end up joining Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club looking to capitalise on his personal circumstances.

Not only is Ozil of Turkish descent, he’s been spending time in Istanbul with Miss Turkey Amine Gulse.

It’s even thought the pair could be married within a year or two, so the former Real Madrid man could perhaps be tempted.

Fenerbahce will be in a better position to sign him in the summer when Robin Van Persie – their current marquee player – is off the books.

Ozil’s relationship with Wenger has also become strained in recent months. While the Frenchman was a key factor in his decision to move to the Emirates, the Gunners boss is believed to be unhappy with his commitment this season. Fenerbahce won’t be the favourites to sign him, but it may appeal to him to move to a predominantly Muslim country – and it’s not as if Europe’s elite clubs are queuing up to sign him.
