The question is no longer whether Alexis Sanchez will leave Arsenal, it’s where he’ll be going.
The Chilean’s contract saga has rumbled on all season. He and Mesut Ozil have stalled on signing new deals, apparently waiting to see how the season panned out before committing.
In doing so, the reality is that they’ve probably had a hugely detrimental effect on the campaign.
It’s understandable that Arsenal now need a decision either way.
The Times are reporting that the club have now made up their mind to sell both players, as otherwise they risk losing them for nothing in a little over a year.
Even more worryingly, the same sources believe that Chelsea and Manchester City are plotting bids for Sanchez.
Now, at first glance, it’s hard to imagine Arsenal allowing him to join a Premier League rival, but the same was said about Robin Van Persie, and he went on to win Manchester United the title.
With his contract positioned as it is, the Gunners may have no choice but to sell up if either of those clubs come calling.
