Despite all the evidence, Antonio Conte continues to persevere with Nemanja Matic instead of Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas is still worthy of a starting place week in, week out at most clubs, which means he’s likely to quit Stamford Bridge in the summer.
However, it appears Matic could also be on his way out.
Mundo Deportivo suggest that he will be offered to Barcelona at the end of the season, as the Blaugrana would like a physically strong central midfielder.
It doesn’t help that their manager Luis Enrique is quitting after the current campaign, so Matic won’t know who he’ll be managed by if he does move to the Nou Camp.
That’s not to say Chelsea are desperate to get rid of him either. There’s still a possibility that he’ll sign a new contract, which would scupper Barca’s bid.
Matic knows the La Liga champions’ technical director Robert Fernandez well, so at the very least, they should be favourites to sign him if he doesn’t commit to Chelsea.
