Granit Xhaka will no doubt have been expecting a little more from his maiden season at Arsenal.
The 24-year-old signed from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, but has struggled to adapt to the Premier League.
Arsene Wenger has tried desperately to iron out his disciplinary problems – both on and off the field – but the Swiss international still has a lot to prove.
However, it seems he’s still held in high esteem back in the Bundesliga.
Swiss newspaper Blick report that despite his poor performance against them in the Champions League, Bayern Munich are considering making a surprise bid for him at the end of the season.
Former Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfield is their source on the matter, explaining:
“Bavaria certainly has Xhaka on the radar. Xhaka is always a topic for current top clubs and its development is not yet completed.”
With Xabi Alonso set to retire at the end of the season, Carlo Ancelotti is on the hunt for a long-term replacement in central midfield.
It’s odd that he should choose one who has been sent off nine times in three seasons.
