Eric Dier continues to divide opinion among Spurs fans, but it appears he’s still in demand.
The Sun claim that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the former Sporting Lisbon man and enquired about signing him in January, only to be rebuffed by Spurs.
It’s fair to say the England international has failed to reach the level he achieved last season, but that’s partly because he’s changed positions so many times.
Dier’s versatility means that he’s been used at right-back, centre-back, and centre-mid, allowing Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele to occupy the position he made his own last term.
Frustratingly for Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino is equally confident of the 23-year-old’s qualities and will not have him sold.
United would have to offer a sizeable fee for Spurs to even consider the sale. The Lilywhites could make a huge profit on the Euro 2016 star, whom they bought for £4million, as Mourinho could offer around the £35million mark.
