Jurgen Klopp will be only too aware that he needs to strengthen his Liverpool squad this summer.
The Reds have won just once in the Premier League this calendar year, beating Tottenham 2-0 a fortnight ago.
The defeat to Leicester was just the icing on the cake for a team with ridiculous defensive frailties.
James Milner and Lucas Leiva both featured in the back four in that game, and even allowing for injuries, Klopp has continually tinkered with his defence over the year and a bit he’s been in charge.
This is hardly news for Liverpool fans. Strangely enough, though, it seems Klopp spent last summer trying to improve his attack.
Borussia Dortmund pair Ousmane Dembele and Christian Pulisic have told FourFourTwo that they both spoke to the former BVB boss about moving to Anfield in the summer, but decided to turn him down.
“I saw Klopp in Paris but I told him I had made up my mind to sign for Dortmund,” Dembele said, who signed for the Bundesliga side from Rennes last May.
As for Pulisic, he admitted:
“I have respect for Klopp and I know him – he was very welcoming to me here – but I was never really thinking about going to Liverpool.
That will come as devastating news to the Anfield faithful. Dembele is one of the most highly-rated young forwards in Europe, while Pulisic is exactly the kind of starlet Klopp would love to build his midfield around.
