Arsenal braced for fresh interest in Bellerin from European giant

Arsenal are bracing themselves for a summer of upheaval.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil may well leave the Emirates, while Arsene Wenger’s contract expires in the summer and he is yet to sign a new deal.

One of the few key men in north London whose future seemed secure was Hector Bellerin after he recently put pen to paper on an extension, but now even that is coming into question.

The Spaniard has excelled at right-back this season and is quite possibly the best in his position in the Premier League.

That has led to constant interest from his old club Barcelona, for whom he never made a senior appearance.

There is no more uncertainty surrounding the manager’s situation at Barca, with rumours mounting that this will be Luis Enrique’s final season in charge.

Mundo Deportivo
report that the Nou Camp outfit will nonetheless make another attempt to sign the defender, regardless of who is in charge.

The 21-year-old now has a much better chance of making it with the Blaugrana as he has proven himself as an elite player.

The newspaper’s journalist Fernando Polo claims that Barca think Bellerin would be the ideal long-term replacement for Dani Alves, who left for Juventus last year, because he knows the DNA which makes up the club.

Arsenal, of course, would be hugely reluctant to sell, but unless they can find some stability, there may be no-one to stop him leaving if Barca do come calling.
