Very little has gone right at Liverpool in recent weeks.
The Reds haven’t won in the league since New Year’s Eve’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City, and it’s fair to say their ambitions have taken a hit pretty quickly.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now aiming to at least finish in the Champions League places even if there’s little to no chance of them catching Chelsea at the top of the table.
It was always going to be a long rebuilding project when Klopp took over, so for them to achieve more next season, they need to consolidate the work they’ve done already.
One way of doing that is by tying their key players to the club.
Adam Lallana has scored seven goals and assisted a further seven this season, so he certainly falls into that bracket.
According to the Telegraph, Liverpool are keen to stave off interest from other top European clubs by offering him a new contract worth an impressive £150,000 a week.
It would commit the England Player of the Year to Anfield until 2021.
Philippe Coutinho also signed a new deal last month, so despite their dip in form, this is clearly a group of players who believe in Klopp’s revolution.
