If Liverpool have learned anything from their woeful run of form, it’s got to be that they need to have a very busy summer transfer window.
The Reds are expecting to back Jurgen Klopp in the market as he looks to bolster his defence, choose a world-class goalkeeper and find a top striker to boot.
All in all, the German has got a lot to do.
Lifelong fan, former Newcastle forward, and talkSPORT’s Liverpool insider Micky Quinn has been giving some insights into the activity he expects at Anfield at the end of the season, and it should make for an exciting two months.
Quinn has revealed that two big names could be on their way out, and that Klopp could turn to England goalkeeper Joe Hart after his struggles with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
“What I know is that Sturridge could be on his way, Mignolet could be on his way and in could come Joe Hart,” Quinn told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
It will come as little surprise if either Sturridge or Mignolet depart.
The striker has looked slow and lacklustre in recent weeks, scoring just two league goals all season.
As for Mignolet, he may have saved Diego Costa’s penalty against Chelsea, but he was partly at fault for David Luiz’s opener in that game too.
In addition to Hart, Quinn hinted that there could be as many as five or six other top signings, so Liverpool are going to have to spend some serious money. At least it shows they’re determined to mount a more sustained title bid next time around.
