Tottenham endured what can only be described as one of their most frustrating games of the season against Sunderland.
The Lilywhites rocked up in the north-east knowing they had a great chance to close the gap on Chelsea, especially with the Blues dropping two points at Liverpool.
Unbelievably, though, David Moyes’ side were able to keep Spurs at bay, restricting them to just one shot on target in the first half.
And the second 45 weren’t much better, with Mauricio Pochettino’s players missing a host of big chances.
Victor Wanyama was guilty of squandering perhaps the biggest opportunity of the game, but the key moment may have been when Danny Rose was forced off with an injury.
Sunderland played rough, and Jack Rodwell was extremely lucky to stay on the pitch after his awful tackle on Mousa Dembele.
Rose’s departure was hugely significant, though, and despite the whole stadium singing his name – in recognition of his previous loan spell at the Stadium of Light – he will undoubtedly have been frustrated to miss out.
It’s fair to say Ben Davies did not make the impact he would have liked in the England international’s place.
The Welshman obviously lacks the pace that Spurs’ first choice left-back possesses, though most players do.
Nonetheless, Davies’ performance left many fans frustrated. Here’s the best of the reaction:
Sorry but I despise Ben Davies.

I find Ben Davies fascinating. How a player joins us at 20 years old, spends three years here, and gets multiple levels worse is beyond me

If Rose is injured for any length of time it might force us to move back to 4 at the back for a sustained period; Ben Davies is so beige.

Ben Davies there, taking a full 20 seconds to catch up to our attack

That feeling when Danny Rose gets injured and you see Davies warming up. pic.twitter.com/DuGBS6eJk2

Everytime Davies plays it makes me appreciate Danny Rose even more
