Chelsea are ready to mount another raid on Celtic as they attempt to lure promising youngster Moussa Dembele to the Premier League, reports Sky Sports.
After pursuing Hoops goalkeeper Craig Gordon, Antonio Conte is also interested in the former Fulham starlet, even if the SPL champions are extremely reluctant to sell.
This isn’t the first time the 20-year-old has attracted interest from the English top flight, and he came close to a deal with Spurs a year ago which might well have happened had Mauricio Pochettino agreed to loan him back to Fulham for the remainder of that season.
Celtic ended up paying just £400,000 to the Championship outfit – not so much a transfer fee, but a payment in recognition of his development.
It goes without saying then, that should Brendan Rodgers give in and allow him to head to Chelsea, his club would make a massive profit – the current fee being talked about is £40million, though that may simply be to ward the Blues off.
Dembele has scored 20 goals this season, but as countless players before him have found, that doesn’t necessarily translate to the Premier League.
