Arsenal fans must be desperate for an insight into Alexis Sanchez’s thoughts.
The Chilean has still not come to an agreement with the club over a new contract and has showed a few signs of discontent this season.
Frustratingly, the forward hasn’t given much indication as to whether he plans to stay.
According to Gunners legend Robert Pires, though, that’s because Sanchez himself doesn’t yet know whether he wants to commit.
“I spoke to Alexis last week and asked about the renewal,” Pires explained, via La Tercera.
“He told me he didn’t know, that he only cared to play.
“The renewal is not a subject for Alexis. He doesn’t know what is going to happen, he just wants to play and enjoy.”
That seems about right given the way the 28-year-old has gone about his football despite the ongoing rumours surrounding his future.
The Copa America winner’s representatives have been disputing the wages that Arsenal have put on the table, perhaps in the knowledge that he could easily earn more elsewhere.
Nonetheless, he is thought to have turned down an offer from the Chinese Super League, which suggests there is more to it than the money on offer.
Arsenal need to at least run Chelsea close to the title if they are to convince him they are capable of fulfilling his wish of winning trophies.
