Nothing about Pep Guardiola’s body language over the last few months has suggested he is even remotely enjoying his time in charge of Manchester City.
The Catalan has cut a pained figure in the Etihad dugout, last weekend watching his players surrender a two-goal lead at home to Spurs.
The game before that, it was a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Everton.
It’s only because of the reputation the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has in football that he isn’t already being linked with the sack.
However, according to the Sun, not only is he intending to survive his three-year contract, he is already talking about a five-year project at the club and wants his deal extended accordingly.
Sources have apparently told the newspaper that Guardiola is loving life in Manchester and is planning further work on his city centre apartment, with his family also settling in well.
Owner Sheikh Mansour is still giving Pep his full backing despite City having lost more games than any other team in the top six.
It remains to be seen whether the club will buy into his five-year plan, but it may well be that he’s simply buying time knowing his first season in charge is set to be wield pretty underwhelming results.
