5 things we learned from this weekend’s Premier League games

After another weekend of Premier League action, we’re perhaps that little bit closer to finding out how the table will look at the end of the season.

Chelsea enjoyed a great Saturday without even playing as they watched Manchester City, Spurs, and Liverpool all drop points.

Here’s five things we learned from the big talking points:

5 – It was great to see the way the football family rallied around Ryan Mason after his horrific injury against Chelsea. Hull have since released a statement confirming he’s in a stable condition following surgery on his fractured skull.

4 – No-one should have been surprised by Diego Costa’s goal. The Blues striker has always courted controversy, and he’s always done his talking on the pitch – hence the celebration.

3 – Wayne Rooney may not be thought of as fondly in many circles as Sir Bobby Charlton, but he showed again that class is permanent. The skipper’s 250th goal for Manchester United was absolutely sublime, and it was a wonderful way to get the record.

2 – Liverpool would actually be top if only games against the top six counted. For some reasons, it’s against teams like Swansea that they always seem to drop points, and it looks as if it’s going to cost them any last hopes of the title.

1 – Despite all their defeats this season, Manchester City’s draw with Tottenham will have come as one of the most disappointing results for Pep Guardiola. The Citizens absolutely dominated Spurs and could have gone in four or five up at the break – instead, they let a two-goal lead slip and ended up blaming the referee. Tottenham, on the other hand, showed the character of champions.
