Olivier Giroud is one player who seems to be talking sense when it comes to the allure of the Chinese Super League.
The Frenchman has recently committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new £100,000-a-week contract until 2020.
Yet, while he admits he can understand the temptation to move to China in a big-money move, the striker says playing in the Premier League is the ultimate goal for players in their prime.
“From my point of view, I can understand why some players have moved to China,” he said, per the Sun.
“But if you asked me if I want to go now, I will tell you ‘no’.
“Right now, the Premier League is still my main target. But once I have won the title one day, why not? You never know.”
The 30-year-old has scored seven Premier League goals this season, filling in for the injured Danny Welbeck who has only recently made his return.
Amid the talk of Diego Costa being linked with China, it seems the Chelsea star won’t be the last player to try and force a move to the Far East, but Giroud is clearly focused on winning trophies before perhaps leaving England for one final pay day near the end of his career.
