Why Michy Batshuayi’s swap with Fernando Llorente is stalling

Chelsea are still seriously considering swapping Michy Batshuayi for Fernando Llorente, reports the Mirror.

The Belgium striker is yet to start a Premier League game at Stamford Bridge but found the back of the net in the 4-1 win over Peterborough in the FA Cup.

The former Marseille man’s only goals for the club have come in cup competitions, so it’s no wonder Antonio Conte is worried that he’s not a suitable back-up for Diego Costa, even if he hasn’t really been given a chance to prove himself.

Conte is keen for a reunion with his former Juventus striker Llorente, who has scored six times for Swansea this season. With the Swans struggling in the relegation zone, they would obviously only be tempted if Chelsea could offer them Batshuayi in return.

However, the same newspaper have it that it’s Batshuayi who is stalling on the switch, as he is waiting to see which other clubs come in for him.

West Ham are reportedly one other option, and with their survival hopes considerably more realistic than Swansea’s, that would be a far more appealing move.

The Hammers’ combined strikers have managed just four goals between them this term, so Batshuayi should be guaranteed games – something it’s hard to see happening for him if he stays at Chelsea for much longer.
