There must be a part of Joe Hart rejoicing in Claudio Bravo’s struggles at Manchester City.
The England goalkeeper was unceremoniously dumped by Pep Guardiola even before he had signed the ex-Barca man as a replacement, City making no bones about the fact that Hart was not in their plans.
Yet, after a difficult Euro 2016, the 29-year-old has done a lot to restore his reputation with a loan spell at Torino.
To all but Guardiola, replacing Hart with Bravo seemed crazy. Not only was the Chilean unproven in England, he wasn’t even number one at the Nou Camp.
Most clubs would be happy to take a ‘keeper like Hart onto their books, so he shouldn’t find it hard to attract a new club in the summer.
However, contrary to popular belief, it’s not going to be Liverpool who take him on.
The erratic form of both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius had prompted speculation that Jurgen Klopp would be in the market, but Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool are not interested.
There is no point Hart joining anyone until the summer as players are only allowed to appear for two clubs in any one season, which effectively means he’d be sidelined if he moved in January.
That opens the door for Everton, who have also been linked with him, but he certainly won’t be in the red half of Merseyside soon.
