Oscar seems to have started a trend at Chelsea.
With the Brazilian close to agreeing a £52million move to Shanghai SIPG, all eyes are turning to the Chinese Super League and its riches to see who they’ll be bidding for next.
With Andre Villas-Boas having taken over at SIPG, that seems the obvious destination for Chelsea rejects.
Jon Obi Mikel is able to talk to foreign clubs in January with his contract expiring in the summer, and given that he’s out of favour under Antonio Conte, it seems likely he’ll leave Stamford Bridge.
According to the Evening Standard, SIPG are interested in making him their latest big name signing, and the Nigerian could do pretty well out of the deal.
Mikel could earn up to £170,000-a-week, which is an impressive £100,000 rise on what he’s currently on at Chelsea.
And while he can officially leave for free in the summer, the CSL side are willing to pay a small fee to the Blues in order to make sure the deal gets over the line quickly.
The midfielder also has other offers on the table, including from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, but it’s unlikely he’ll be on those kind of wages anywhere else.
