It’s no real surprise that new Shanghai SIPG boss Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring some of his old Chelsea stars to China.
The Portuguese recently took over from Sven-Goran Eriksson at the Chinese Super League club, and he’s already set to make a huge splash in the January transfer window.
Possibly his most bizarre target is Oscar, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in a deal worth between £50-60million.
Quite which Oscar Villas-Boas has been watching this season is up for debate, as he’s yet to find the back of the net and has been in and out of the side.
Of course, this is no great loss to Antonio Conte, who has barely been playing him anyway. In fact, you’d have thought Chelsea would bite Shanghai’s hand off at the offer which will make Oscar the most expensive player the club have ever sold, surpassing David Luiz’s £50million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it seems it’s not just the Blues who will do well out of the transfer. Oscar himself is set to earn a huge weekly wage in the Far East.
According to the Times, the Brazilian will take home £20million a year – or £440,000 a week.
That means he will become the third-best paid player in world football – only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
