Cesc Fabregas may have set up Diego Costa’s winner against West Brom, but it seems it’s too late for him to impress Antonio Conte.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge ever since Conte’s arrival, Serie A touted as the most likely destination.
Juventus and AC Milan have both been suggested as the former Arsenal and Barcelona man’s next move, but Roma are leading the race as they have more to offer Chelsea in return.
According to the Mirror, Luciano Spalletti is so desperate to land Fabregas that he is willing to throw in either one of his two players Chelsea targeted in the summer – Antonio Rudiger or Radja Nainggolan.
If the Blues had a choice, they’d surely choose Rudiger, as they are keen to bring in defensive reinforcements. Nainggolan is one of Europe’s finest box-to-box midfielders, but Chelsea’s midfield is looking in form, hence why Fabregas has struggled to keep his place.
Openly, Conte insists Fabregas has his backing, but if Chelsea can find a club who are willing to pay the midfielder’s wages, then they could well choose to cash in while he’s still in demand.
