Wolves are going to have to think again if they thought dealing with Jose Mourinho was going to be easy.
The Championship side have asked to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan, but the Special One has reportedly intervened to stop the deal going ahead.
Unfortunately for Johnstone, this actually has nothing to do with him, and everything to do with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
According to the Telegraph, Mourinho is unhappy with Wolves over their treatment of Borthwick-Jackson, who is spending this season on loan at Molineux in a bid to get game time.
As anyone who has been keeping tabs on the young defender will know, he’s featured just seven times, despite looking as if he was on the cusp of a regular spot in the first team at United under Louis van Gaal.
It’s understandable that the Red Devils aren’t best pleased. They allowed him to join Wolves on the premise that he’d be gaining much-needed experience, so they aren’t going to make the same mistake with Johnstone.
Borthwick-Jackson is expected to cut his loan short and return to Old Trafford in January.
