Arsenal’s contract standoffs with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez show no sign of resolution as they head into their Christmas fixtures.
Representatives of both players are demanding wages of over £200,000 to put the stars in line with the Premier League’s biggest names, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.
However, it seems with Sanchez, the club have an even bigger problem.
The Mirror report that the Chilean has an offer from China which would see him earn a ridiculous £400,000 a week.
It’s going to be a huge challenge for Arsene Wenger to convince the 27-year-old to stay at the Emirates with money like that on the table elsewhere, though it’s thought the attacker does not especially want to leave London.
It could, therefore, depend on the transfer fee Arsenal are offered by Chinese Super League (CSL) clubs, as it could be worth cashing in while Sanchez is still at his peak.
The only consolation is that the Gunners are probably not going to be alone in this sort of dilemma, as CSL officials are keen to bring in more big names to boost the league’s reputation.
If it comes down to the player himself, Arsenal are going to have to up their game if he’s to turn down the chance to become one of the world’s best paid players.
