Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid.
While the Gabon striker isn’t forcing a move away from Borussia Dortmund just yet, he’s publicly admitted he wants a switch to the Bernabeu at some point.
All the while, Manchester City have also been hoping they can tempt BVB to sell.
The Bundesliga club’s stance was previously that they would speak with Real if Los Blancos came knocking, but they wouldn’t be forced into selling the forward if they didn’t want to.
Now, manager Thomas Tuchel has given an update on that scenario – and it’s not good news for either Madrid or City.
“It’s normal that he wants to play at Real Madrid one day, any player with his talent would like to play at one of the best teams in the world,” he said, via Sky Sports.
“But my opinion is clear. We cannot achieve our objectives without him. He’s an extraordinary player, he makes everyone better.”
Tuchel was speaking ahead of Dortmund’s clash with Real, as both sides still have a chance of topping Group F.
Aubameyang has played no small part in the Germans’ success in Europe this season, overcoming a one-game exile for disciplinary issues to score three goals.
