David Alaba is being targeted by a number of Premier League clubs, but it appears he already has one destination in mind if he leaves Bayern Munich.
It’s long been rumoured that the defender could move to England, and the chances of that are only going to increase as long as Carlo Ancelotti’s side continue to struggle behind money-bags RB Leipzig.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Alaba would turn down a reunion with Pep Guardiola at City – or even more likely, a chance to bolster Jose Mourinho’s defence at United – because he is a boyhood Arsenal fan.
The Austrian international would also prefer to live in London than Manchester, it’s understood.
Of course, last time United dipped into the Allianz arena for their transfer business, they ended up with Bastian Schweinsteiger, so maybe it’s for the best that this one doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
Arsenal’s defence seems in good shape with Shkodran Mustafi having adapted quickly to the Premier League, but the left-back position could still do with strengthening. Alaba’s versatility would make him the perfect target, but he’s not going to come cheap when he’s a target for so many top European clubs.
