Alexis Sanchez survives injury scare for Chile

Alexis Sanchez

Arsene Wenger will have been watching on nervously as Alexis Sanchez featured for Chile in the international break.

The Arsenal star has been nursing a muscle injury, prompting some confusion as to why he was playing at all.

However, as reported by the Mirror, he appears to have come through unscathed and in fact starred for his national side, helping them to a much-needed win over Uruguay.

The Copa America champions are clearly as reliant on Sanchez as Arsenal are as he scored twice before being subbed off late on.

That means he should be all clear to face Manchester United this Saturday at Old Trafford.

The Gunners go into the game in fine form and just two points off the top of the Premier League table. An injury to their star man could have seriously curtailed their bid to oust Liverpool at the summit, but they can now head to the Theatre of Dreams full of confidence.

Even so, Sanchez did not look his best during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham and Wenger may want to use him carefully in the weeks ahead.
