Rodgers previously insisted he wouldn’t sign Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger because he no longer offered enough pace, but while the same could be said of Gerrard, he could still serve as an inspiration at Celtic Park.
Former Premier League star Robbie Keane is also out of contract this winter, though he is keen to stay in the MLS.
