Chelsea’s pursuit of Antonio Rudiger might not be over just yet.
Blues fans will be familiar with the centre-back after the club considered signing him in the summer, before a serious knee injury put them off.
Now, Antonio Conte may go back in for the Roma star, but it could cost him as much as £35million, reports the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old is also wanted by Manchester United and Manchester City, both of whom are crying out for a new centre-back.
United are likely to step up the chase now that Eric Bailly has sustained knee ligament damage, while City need a long-term replacement for Vincent Kompany to play alongside John Stones.
German international Rudiger is back playing for Roma’s reserves having recovered from his injury quicker than was expected.
The only other obstacle that might deter Chelsea is that they are supposed to be signing more home-grown players, which would make Burnley’s Michael Keane a better option.
Yet, Rudiger is rated as one of Europe’s best young defenders, so it would be no surprise at all if Chelsea swoop for him in January, if Roma will let him go.
