Tottenham are set to be without Moussa Sissoko for three games after the midfielder was given a retrospective ban for violent conduct by the FA, reports Sky Sports.
During Spurs’ 0-0 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, the former Newcastle man appeared to elbow Cherries’ man-of-the-match Harry Arter, who admittedly shrugged off the incident in his post-match interview.
It has not gone unnoticed, though, and Sissoko will now sit out games against Liverpool, Leicester, and Arsenal.
The EFL Cup tie on Tuesday against the Reds would have been a big opportunity for him to make his mark, as Mauricio Pochettino is likely to field a much-changed side.
The France international has not been at his best since arriving from St James’ Park in the summer in a £30million move – a deal which saw him equal Spurs’ record signing of Erik Lamela.
Referee Craig Pawson may not have handed him due punishment on the day, but after confirming he did not see incident, that opened the door for a further charge, which Spurs have accepted.
