Jurgen Klopp must know it would be foolish to make any rash comments about Jose Mourinho ahead of Liverpool’s game against Manchester United.
The Reds are favourites, but they are far from guaranteed the three points against Mourinho’s men, who may well park the bus to avoid defeat.
The Special One’s infamous tactic has always drawn criticism, but this season, his strategy has come under fire more than ever. United haven’t even played that defensively, but with Klopp, Pep Guardiola, and Mauricio Pochettino carrying the flame for high-pressing football, it has been suggested Mourinho’s style of play is a little outdated.
That is definitely not an argument being entertained by Klopp, though, who had a rather surprising reaction when questioned by reporters as to whether the Portuguese might not be so special anymore.
Has Mourinho lost his touch?
“Who said this?” Klopp hit out.
“Four people in Liverpool? It’s bull****. Rubbish.”
That settles that, then.
Liverpool’s challenge is to overcome United if the Red Devils do try to frustrate them, and the way their attack is looking, it’s easy to see why the hosts are favourites.
