Liverpool are in pole position to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti, reports CalcioMercato.
The Reds could be on the hunt for a new forward with Daniel Sturridge struggling and Divock Origi’s future uncertain, and it looks as if they are set to beat Arsenal to the highly-rated Italian.
Belotti has already scored five goals in five league games this season, also creating two assists.
The 22-year-old won’t come cheap, and it could cost Jurgen Klopp’s side £20million to bring him to Anfield, as his current contract with Torino doesn’t expire for another four years.
The striker is slowly but surely making a name for himself, earning his first Italy cap in the recent international break.
While Arsenal are still monitoring his situation, Liverpool are determined to strike first and are hoping to pre-empt any Gunners bid for the player.
Klopp has already made huge progress with his squad, who look like genuine title contenders, but it would be no surprise if he delved back into the market in January to add the finishing touches.
