Even Sergio Aguero has off days.
In the absence of Lionel Messi, Argentina were relying on the Manchester City star to step up to the plate against Paraguay, but they came up short – thanks largely to another penalty miss from the striker.
City fans will be well aware that this isn’t the first time he’s missed from the spot this season. Against Steaua Bucharest in Champions League qualifying, he missed two in one night, so Pep Guardiola will now have major concerns about his ability to cope with the pressure.
Of course, he has converted some too, but Guardiola doesn’t have many other options when it comes to out-and-out strikers.
Aguero more than makes up for it in other areas, but this latest miss really doesn’t look great.

Argentina ultimately went down 1-0, so the quicker Messi returns, the better. Aguero has even said, via the Mirror, that he would no longer be surprised if he was dropped.
“No, because I’m not doing things right. If I’m not in the next squad, I’ll take it in the best way,” he said.
