It looks like Chelsea are willing to do whatever it takes to land Leonardo Bonucci.
Antonio Conte is in dire need of a centre-back, making his former Italy employee the perfect candidate – even if he is going to cost £60million.
Conte has told billionaire boss Roman Abramovich that signing Bonucci should be the club’s number one priority in the January transfer window, with several reports claiming Cesc Fabregas could be used as part of a swap deal.
However, according to the Sun, the Blues are now set to go one better, and could even try and tempt Juve by offering them star man Eden Hazard.
That’s certainly a much more enticing deal for the Serie A champions, as the Belgian playmaker seems to be back to his best this season, while Fabregas is on the decline.
By offering Hazard, Chelsea could significantly reduce the £60million price tag attached to Bonucci, but it would mean letting go of one of their prize assets at the same time.
If that’s a risk Conte is prepared to take, then at least he’s getting his money’s worth in one of the hottest defenders in Europe.
