Manchester United are eyeing a January move for Everton’s Seamus Coleman, reports the Mirror’s Sunday People.
The Irishman scored a superb goal for his country over the international break following a brilliant run against Georgia, and that will no doubt fuel speculation that the Red Devils could make a bid in the New Year.
The Toffees will be reluctant to let the star go, particularly if United only offer £16million as is being reported.
Jose Mourinho would like another right-back as he doesn’t appear to have any place in his plans for Italy international Matteo Darmian.
So far this season, he has been playing Antonio Valencia as a right-back, but while the Ecuadorian has adapted well, the former Wigan man could be better employed further up the field.
Youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah is another option, but Mourinho would rather opt for Coleman because he has so much Premier League experience.
This isn’t the first time he’s been linked with a move across the north-west. When David Moyes was in charge, he tried to bring in Coleman, but it just remains to be seen whether Everton will now take the opportunity to cash in.
