It’s just got a whole lot more difficult for Arsenal and Chelsea if they want to sign Mauro Icardi.
The Argentinian was linked with both London clubs – as well as Tottenham – all throughout the summer, but opted to stay with Inter Milan.
And, as reported by the Mirror, the striker has now signed a contract extension until 2021. That doesn’t rule a move out entirely, but his new deal contains a release clause of £99million, so unless his form deteriorates dramatically, Gli Nerazzurri aren’t going to be selling him at that price anytime soon.
Icardi appears to be happy at the San Siro, but he’d have been a particularly good fit at Arsenal.
The Inter skipper is just 23 years old but has shown incredible maturity beyond his years to date.
The former Sampdoria star will no doubt continue to impress in Italy, while Arsenal and Chelsea will have to turn their attention to other targets.
