Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s rise to the top has been quite remarkable.
The Gabon striker joined Borussia Dortmund three years ago, and has quickly established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.
Unsurprisingly, his name is never far away when Chelsea and Manchester City’s transfer targets are spoken about, and they could finally be about to commence the battle they’ve been waiting for.
The Sun report that Dortmund are finally ready to cash in on the forward, who is rated at around £50million.
The Bundesliga side have done remarkably well to hold onto him for as long as they have, but they do have something of a reputation as a selling club.
Real Madrid are also interested after this latest development, though they are currently being blocked by a transfer ban handed down by FIFA, ending in 2018.
Aubameyang’s 87 goals in 152 games would make him perfect for City, who only have two out-and-out strikers in Sergio Aguero and youngster Kelechi Iheanacho. At Chelsea, it’s difficult to see him slotting in, as they usually operate with one striker and the spot is taken by Diego Costa, with £33million man Michy Batshuayi as back-up.
All this leaves City as favourites for the star, and if he does join up with Pep Guardiola, the Sky Blues are going to have an absolutely unbelievable attack.
