Arsenal fans hoping for a quick resolution to Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’ contract talks are going to continue being disappointed.
It seems like the negotiations over the pair’s new deals have been going on for an eternity.
The Gunners are desperate to tie the stars down, as they are arguably their two most influential players, but there has been one major obstacle.
The drawn-out talks are setting the club back £36million more than they had planned for, reports the Times.
Both Ozil and Sanchez are demanding a mega £250,000 a week if they are to put pen to paper.
Their agents could therefore be accused of changing the goalposts somewhat, as when the negotiations opened, they were asking for £70,000 a week less than that.
And for now, no progress is being made at all as the players have headed off on the international break, Ozil to Germany, and Sanchez to Chile.
Arsenal have every right to be frustrated at their stars’ failure to commit, and they could be left with a real battle to hold onto them in the summer if this isn’t resolved quickly.
