Few Premier League managers are held in the same kind of regard as Pep Guardiola.
The Manchester City boss is quite arguably the finest in the game, having enjoyed unprecedented levels of success with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
And Guardiola has now revealed one manager who he believes is another of the best in the world – and he’s gearing up to face him this weekend.
Speaking of Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino in a pre-match press conference, Guardiola said:
“I don’t think he’s one of the best managers in England – he’s one of the best in the world.
“If I hadn’t been a coach, I’d just be a fan. If I was a young coach, I would see Tottenham and say: ‘I want to play that way.’”
Pochettino’s reputation is growing game by game having taken over an average Spurs side and transformed them into a super-fit, tactically-astute group of title contenders – despite them having the youngest squad in the Premier League.
City will fear very few teams this season, but this is one fixture which could prove their undoing if Spurs go about it in the right way.
Guardiola has every reason to be cautious of Pochettino this Sunday. Either way, it’s going to be an unbelievable spectacle seeing them go toe-to-toe.
