Jose Mourinho endured a frustrating night in the Europa League despite Manchester United’s win over Ukranian minnows Zorya Luhansk.
The Red Devils scraped to a 1-0 win thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s strike, but one of the more notable aspects of the game was Mourinho’s touchline outburst at his own coaches.
The Portuguese completely lost it with assistant manager Rui Faria, slamming the tactics book furiously after his sidekick was seen discussing it with two other coaches.
The Mirror have it that the altercation all surrounded Paul Pogba, with the Frenchman left confused by the instructions of Mourinho’s subordinates.
The Special One explained after the game what prompted his moment of craziness, but even so, it doesn’t seem like that much of a justification for him publicly humiliating his own assistants.
“They changed their team before the game and Paul was a bit confused with the changes,” he explained.
Pogba had initially been told who he was supposed to be marking, but when Zorya made a change to their starting line-up, United were left unprepared.
While Mourinho’s way of dealing with the situation raised a few eyebrows, he has once again demonstrated his obsessive attention to detail, and that can only benefit United going forward.
