Tottenham starlet sparks tug-of-war between USA and England

allardyce

Cameron Carter-Vickers only made his senior debut for Tottenham on Wednesday night, but he’s already kicked off a tug-of-war over his services.

The 18-year-old is coming on leaps and bounds at White Hart Lane, and is highly-rated by boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the Argentine isn’t the only one who thinks he has what it takes to be a top centre-back.

USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann is desperate for him to one day play for the States, but the Daily Mail report that the German – who himself was a Spurs star for several years – fears he could now be tempted by England given his eligibility.

Carter-Vickers has already played for America at youth level, but that wouldn’t preclude him swapping allegiances.

The starlet was born in Southend, England, so if he is offered the chance to play for England, it would be interesting to see if he takes it. To prevent that from happening, though, Klinsmann could fast-track him into the USA senior squad.
