Manchester City haven’t given up on signing Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus, reports the Sun.
Pep Guardiola was linked with a move for the centre-back all summer, but opted for John Stones instead.
At one point, City were considering buying both, but Juve’s asking price of £50million put them off.
It was also thought that captain Vincent Kompany was making good progress and would have featured a lot more this season than he has.
The skipper looked devastated to suffer yet another of his countless injuries against Swansea on Wednesday, and he could now sit out for a further month.
Guardiola is becoming increasingly frustrated with Kompany’s injuries, so it’s about time City thought long-term about an experienced defender who could come in and fill the void.
Bonucci seems happy in Turin for now, but it remains to be seen how he would react if Guardiola came knocking in the New Year.
