Yaya Toure has known for some time that his Manchester City career was over.
Any nostalgia and warm feeling towards the Ivorian who won two Premier League titles at the Etihad is quickly fading, with Pep Guardiola making it clear he has no time for him – nor for his loud mouth agent Dimitri Seluk.
City are now so desperate to get rid of the midfielder that they are even willing to let him join one of their Premier League rivals in January, reports the Daily Mail.
Guardiola will do whatever it takes to get Toure off City’s wage bill, particularly because he is costing them precisely £220,000 a week to do nothing.
The 33-year-old wasn’t willing to leave in the summer because he didn’t want to uproot his family from the north-west, with his only offers coming from Inter Milan and the Chinese Super League.
Exactly who is going to take him on is a big question, as few clubs would be willing to tackle that salary, or that agent, for that matter. Toure may have life in him yet, but as long as he aligns himself with Seluk, he’s going to find it hard to get his move.
