Manchester United’s losing streak might be over, but Jose Mourinho shows no signs of calming down.
The Special One declined to speak to the press prior to the 3-1 win over Northampton because he wasn’t contractually obliged to, and journalists were no doubt disappointed given his soundbites later in the evening.
Mourinho spoke after the game – or ranted, to be more precise – about his critics, insisting as always that he knew best.
“We had a bad week,” he said, as per the Sun.
“I know that the world is full of Einsteins, I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career, they tried to delete an unbelievable history of Manchester United Football Club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results. But that’s the new football, it’s full of Einsteins.”
To be fair, much of the criticism aimed at him so far this season is warranted, as decisions like persevering with Wayne Rooney in the number 10 role are clearly stifling £89million man Paul Pogba.
His managerial record shouldn’t be disregard, admittedly, but he must surely accept that he can’t live on past glories forever. It’s only 16 months since he won the Premier League, but that can still be a long time in football.
Yet, Mourinho continues on, hoping to prove himself even further against Leicester, and crucially, against old rival Claudio Ranieri.
