Yaya Toure’s agent goes on hilarious rant about Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola’s war of words with Yaya Toure’s agent shows no signs of abating.

Unbelievably, Dimitri Seluk continues to goad the Manchester City boss despite his warnings that Toure’s career at the club will be over unless he gets an apology.

Seluk’s response? “If Pep Guardiola wants a war, then he can have one.”

That’s what he has told the Mirror, who were on the receiving end of an extraordinary rant about the City manager.

Guardiola may be rated as the greatest manager in the game, the innovator of tiki-taka football, emulated around the world. He may have won two Champions Leagues, La Liga, the Bundesliga, and may be quite possibly on his way to a Premier League title – but that’s not good enough for Seluk.

The Ukranian has several problems with Guardiola.

First: “Pep doesn’t want players with personality. He only wants players who are scared of him and will do what he says.” Perhaps he hasn’t actually watched his client play football in a long time, or he may understand why City aren’t going to drop a world-class midfielder like Ilkay Gundogan to fit him in.

His next big issue is the treatment of predecessor Manuel Pellegrini, which is a fair point, but it was surely City’s fault, and is hardly uncommon practice in modern football in any case.

“Look what Guardiola did to Pellegrini. He took his job when he was still fighting for titles,” he added.

And lastly, Guardiola’s entire career came under inspection. His achievements across Europe all amount to nothing, apparently, because he hasn’t yet managed Sunderland.

“The team he took at Barca had been built by Frank Rijkaard and then he was lucky to have Lionel Messi. It was Messi who made Barca, not Pep.

“It was the same in Munich…My grandfather could have won the league with that team.

“If Pep wants to prove himself as a great manager, then he should go to Zaragoza or Sunderland.

“Let’s see how good he is when he doesn’t take over a great team and hasn’t got half-a-billion pounds to spend.”

At long last someone has stood up to this Pratt of an agent.
After the birthday cake issue en all, I don’t think Yaya will get any sympathy from anyone. He needs to distance himself quickly to retain any credibility.
