Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland may have come at a heavy price, with Harry Kane leaving White Hart Lane on crutches and with his foot in a protective boot.
The striker scored Spurs’ winner, but was later stretchered off with a nasty-looking ankle injury.
Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier were also forced off with what looked like hamstring cramps, but Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed, via the London Evening Standard, that neither is serious.

That just leaves him sweating on the fitness of his star man, who would be a huge loss if he is ruled out for a significant amount of time.
Kane wasn’t expected to start in Wednesday’s game against Gillingham anyway, but he could also miss the weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough, and most likely next week’s Champions League away tie against CSKA Moscow.
Although Spurs now have Vincent Janssen as a back-up option, he is yet to record his first goal for the club. The Dutchman seems increasingly desperate, squandering a perfectly good chance for Erik Lamela against Sunderland by choosing to hold onto the ball and shoot way over the bar.
The Lilywhites have long feared that the time would come when they would be punished for over-relying on Kane, and that hour may have finally arrived.
