Harry Kane defiant despite Champions League criticism

Harry Kane

Despite being one of the most promising young strikers in the Premier League, Harry Kane is a player who never fails to attract criticism.

The Englishman has hit 50 goals for Spurs already in his short career, but another slow start to the season has seen him come under fire again.

While the 23-year-old found the back of the net in the 4-0 win over Stoke City, he struggled in the Champions League against Monaco, though it has to be said he wasn’t the only Tottenham player to underperform.

The Lilywhites lost 2-1 on their return to the competition at Wembley, but Kane still has plenty of time to find his shooting boots, with five group games still left to play.

And the striker has made it clear he’s getting to used to criticism, telling the Mirror:

“People said that this time last year and I went on to win the Golden Boot and score 30-odd goals for club and country.

“People are going to talk — people will talk. It doesn’t bother me. I’m fit, I’m ready to go.

“I’ll be ready on Sunday, if called upon by the gaffer, and hopefully I can get on the scoresheet and win the game.”

Fortunately, Kane has the perfect chance to score this weekend against 19th-placed Sunderland, who are yet to win a competitive game under David Moyes.
