It looks as if Jose Mourinho is cutting all ties with Chelsea.
The Special One has effectively already done that by taking the Manchester United job, but he could now stir up even more bad blood with his old club.
CalcioMercato report that Blues boss Antonio Conte wants to bring United defender Matteo Darmian to Stamford Bridge to boost his defensive options.
Conte bought two defenders in the summer, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, but with John Terry out injured, even that might not be enough.
Another right-back would be a big plus, as Branislav Ivanovic has slowed down considerably and doesn’t contribute as much down the wings as someone like Darmian would be able to.
Yet, there is one big obstacle. According to the Mirror, Mourinho plans to block any Chelsea bid for Darmian – even though he has no plans for him, preferring Antonio Valencia in his position.
This all makes the Portuguese boss sound very bitter towards his old club, who sacked him in December, but there’s more to it than that.
Mourinho considers Chelsea, new and improved since Conte’s arrival, to be serious rivals again in the Premier League, so it makes sense that he is unwilling to help them strengthen.
