Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Champions League game has been rescheduled for Wednesday night after falling victim to a heavy storm.
Even for the north-west, there was some pretty serious downpour, together with a lightning storm, which led officials to warn it wasn’t safe to play the match.
As it was called off with just 19 minutes to go until kickoff, the German fans – many of them topless, which wasn’t entirely necessary – were already in their seats.

The Mirror are reporting that the Bundesliga outfit are frustrated by the decision to play the rescheduled game at 7.45pm – the time it should have taken place on Tuesday.
Travel and accommodation issues mean that it’s going to be tough for many of the travelling fans to make Wednesday’s game, but City did have a good reason for the later time.
The club were unable to recruit enough stewards for 6pm, so security and safety would have been compromised.
When it finally goes ahead, City fans will be able to see Pep Guardiola’s first European game in charge, and if their unbeaten Premier League form is anything to go by, they’re in for a treat.
