More observant Manchester United fans will have noticed very little has been heard or seen of Matteo Darmian this season.
The Italian was linked with a move away in the summer, but the fact that he stayed on at the club suggested he was definitely part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
All that may well have been the case at the time, but TuttoSport, a publication in the defender’s native country, report that the player has now had a bitter falling out with the Special One.
The same source reports that Juventus are monitoring the situation with an eye to bidding for the right-back, but regardless, he’s going to have a difficult few months ahead.
The 26-year-old is not even believed to be speaking to Mourinho, so he could well be shipped out to the Serie A champions on loan in January with a view to a permanent move next summer.
Unfortunately, United value him at around £17million which could prove an obstacle, particularly if he’s not playing.
Antonio Valencia has taken his place in the first team, and if the rumours of a clash with Mourinho are true, then it seems there could be no way back for Darmian.
