Eddie Howe has insisted he is ignoring speculation linking him with the Arsenal job.
The Bournemouth boss is reportedly one of the names in the frame to succeed Arsene Wenger, whether that be at the end of this season when the Frenchman’s contract expires, or later on if he decides to extend.
Jack Wilshere’s move to Dean Court has only intensified the rumours, with widespread suggestions that this is Howe’s audition to show how well he can develop players and play attacking football.
Speaking to reports, though, the man himself has reiterated his commitment to Bournemouth.
“I’d rather be linked doing something right than the other way, but my only focus is winning, is Bournemouth,” he said.
“I don’t want to hear it, I don’t need to hear it. I just want to win games.
“It’s very hard to predict the future – if you try you come unstuck. In football management you live week to week.
“I turn a blind eye to speculation.”
The Cherries’ finished in 16th last season and Howe was praised for keeping them up with such limited resources.
The young manager also did a fine job at Burnley, but he is no stranger to speculation.
Before it was handed to Sam Allardyce, he was linked with the England job, so he will have to get used to speculation, especially if he achieves the incredible feat of keeping Bournemouth in the Premier League for another season.
