Nacer Chadli explains West Brom move after Spurs exit

Tottenham’s decision to sell Nacer Chadli this summer could be one they live to regret.

Of all the outgoings at White Hart Lane over the course of the transfer window, the winger was perhaps the one player fans were most sorry to see go, not least because of the club’s lack of depth in that area.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has since been brought in from Marseille, but Chadli was actually sold while that deal was still up in the air.

And the Belgian has now admitted that several clubs were interested, but he opted for West Brom in a £13million switch.

“I had a few clubs interested but West Brom came very quickly and they showed concrete interest and wanted to make it happen,” he told the Express.

“I thought if they really want me, it’s important for me to go there and prove myself. That’s why I chose West Brom.”

Chadli was one of the Baggies’ few signings this summer, but it shouldn’t have come of that much of a surprise when he left North London having fallen down the pecking order at Spurs.

The 27-year-old was mostly confined to the Europa League last season, but at the Hawthornes, he has the potential to become a key player once again under Tony Pulis.
